Catcastle Buff
Medium grained buff/grey/variegated sandstone
Extracted near Blackburn in Lancashire, this buff gritstone has been quarried since the early 1940s.
Extensively used in the last 15 years on some of the largest buildings in Edinburgh including:
The new Sheriffs Court building, the Energy Centre at The Gyle and the prestigious Harvey Nichols Store.
Other projects include the Carlton George Hotel - Glasgow, the historic Cholera Monument in Sheffield and the large office development Belvedere House in Manchester.
