Memorial Stone for Local RAF Hero

The quarry recently gifted a slab of Dunhouse Pink Sandstone to be a part of memorial project for Group Captain David Ayton Howard who died when his RAF Hawker Harrier II GR7 crashed during a practice bombing run near Barnard Castle on December 18, 1998.

Pictured below, the memorial located near to the crash site was unveiled this month in a special ceremony.
